Hi-Performance Street Dampers
Professional Products great new street dampers are made from extremely tough nodular iron and are suitable for all street applications and mild (non SFI) racing applications. These dampers are designed to be safely revved to as high as 6,500 rpm. Our dampers are of the highest quality and are precision machined to tolerances tighter than OEM. They come with a gloss black paint finish and white timing marks for easier reading. Externally balanced dampers feature bolt-in counterweights that are precision balanced. Counterweights are included with all external dampers. All Ford dampers have three sets of timing marks to cover nearly every small block damper application. Counterweights are sold separately in case you buy an internal balance damper (such as the #80002) and want to make it into an #80004. You simply buy the 400 counterweight and bolt it into the 350 damper. Both small block Ford dampers are the same with just different counterweights which can be swapped back and forth depending upon engine application.

High Performance Race Dampers
Our Race Dampers are made from bulletproof 1045 steel. These dampers are designed to be installed on race engines that may rev over 10,000 rpm. Optimum damping occurs in the 6500 to 7500 rpm range. The machine work on these dampers is second to none and the critical fit tolerances and balance are held more closely than OEM. All externally balanced dampers feature bolt-in counterweights. This feature allows for swapping weights between dampers (Ford) or adding them to internal balanced dampers (Chevy) if you change applications. The basic damper in any family is the same with either a different counterweight (Ford) or an added counter- weight (Chevy). This provides an unlimited amount of flexibility. Plus, you can't buy a more accurately balanced damper.

Note: All small block Ford dampers are made to the shortest (as measured from the front the engine) length as used on '79 & earlier engines. Spacers are used to move the front face out to provide correct pulley alignment on later engines. See note under adjacent Street Damper listings. This feature allows you to install a late engine in an early vehicle and use the stock pulleys and drive arrangement. All our Ford units have both three and four bolt hole patterns and when used without the spacer, are the correct length for early model vehicles.

What is Bonding? It means that the elastomer (rubber) that is sandwiched between the ring and the hub is bonded, or vulcanized, to metal. This is similar to the process used to bond the metal motor mounts to the rubber vibration isolaters used in these mounts. This greatly increases the safety of the damper as most stock, and many inexpensive aftermarket dampers, are just pressed together and under heavy duty applications, the ring can rotate, moving your TDC mark from the true position, or fly off the engine. That can cause engine damage and altered timing. |
